Toby Delk (b. 1992) is an artist and oil painter of aircraft/automobiles, animals/birds, dogs/horses, flowers/trees, historical/portraiture, locomotive/subways, rural/urban, ships/submarines and his styles include Art Deco, Fauvism, Grisaille, Realism  and Charcoal drawing.

 

Delk grew up in the Mid Tennesssee-South Kentucky area, and since age 5, has shown a talent and appreciation for the visual and musical arts. Influential to to his life and art were trips to his grandparents and uncle in Bowling Green, KY and grandmother in Fentress County, TN, and German-Russian/British-Danish and Cherokee lineage. His Grandfather was an automotive professer and WW2 veteran with a love for Hisotry and nature, his Grandmother's love of  animals and music, his Uncle's passion for classics and Sci-fi, and his other Grandmother's love of family and roots, subjects of which he shared interests with and that he includes in all his art. Last but not least, his parents that have encouraged him and exposed him to art and travel.

 

Delk took 2 years of art classes from Jennifer McDonald of Gallatin, TN, and 8 years of classes from renowned artist/teacher/mentor, Marion Cook of Goodlettsville, TN.

 

Artists and styles that have influenced his work include Edward Hopper, Henri Matisse, Georgia O'Keeffe, Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, art deco, Russian Impressionism, and German Fauvism.
